Facebook has a way of reminding us of many life changing memories…prom, our first date with our husband and the first time your daughter ate avocados. The memory it showed me this morning hit me in my feelings. A year ago, today, we sold our first home. I was 7 months pregnant with our little boy, and we had no clue what we were going to do next.

When my husband and I were in premarital counseling we took a test that showed us our top five strengths. Two of the five strengths that we were given, we had in common – responsibility and futuristic. Long story short, this is where our journey began.
We had bought a wonderful house to move in to after our wedding. It was 3,000 sq ft, with a barn on seven acres. It was a dream for our first home and we had planned to stay there for about 20 years, until it was time to build our dream home.
Boy, did that get turned upside down within five years….
We had noticed that property value in our area had increased. So we decided to put our desired price on the house and put on the market. We had planned to keep it on the market for six months and if it didn’t sell, we would pull it off the market and live there happily.
A month later I found out I was pregnant with baby #2 and 5.5 months after listing, we received an offer that we couldn’t resist.
So, here we go…
Our new plan: find a larger property, build a barndominium, live there for five years and then build our dream home. We’ve had many hiccups and learning curves along the way, but I would love to share them with you! I felt so alone and had a hard time finding resources through out the process. So I am hoping that I will be able to help anyone that is in a similar situation as we were!
And if this picture doesn’t sum up out journey, I don’t know what will.
